Kleine Komedie
The main theatre for comedy and cabaret. Also sometimes music performances.

Felix Meritis
'It is a centre for debate, dialogue and international networking. It is the Netherlands' oldest concert hall. It is a modern and flexible theatre space. It is a cafe where you will meet a high proportion of Europe's opinion formers.'

IJsbreker
One of the main theatres of Amsterdam. Jazz, modern music, world music. Nice terrace along the river Amstel.

Westergasfabriek
Theatre, dance, film (in a former gas factory). Located in the west part of the centre.

Veemtheater
(Website has currently old information. We got promises the new one will be up soon.) Several kinds of (modern) theatre. Specializes in mime. theatre. Located in a converted old warehouse.

Comedy Café
Stand-up comedy, in Dutch and often also in English. Website is in Dutch.

Beurs van Berlage
The huge former trade building at Damrak, close to the Central Station. They do classical music and exhibitions.

Bellevue Theater
Theatre near Leidseplein, mostly Dutch language theatre performances.

De Balie
Centre for (political) debates, seminars, film, theatre. And also a nice cafe.

Brakke Grond
Art centre for culture from Flanders (the Dutch speaking part of Belgium).

Concertgebouw
Internationally known for it's fabulous acoutsics and home of the famous Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Paradiso
The temple of pop music in Amsterdam

Melkweg / Milky Way
Popular place for live music, exhibitions, dance, theatre, etc.

Muziektheater / Opera house
The most important Opera house of Amsterdam, also featuring other performances. It is part of the same building as the City Hall. The complex is nicknamed 'Stopera'.

Cristofori
Shop specializing in top model pianos also organizes regular concerts.

Vondelpark Open Air theater / Openluchttheater
Open air theater in the Vondelpark. During the summer there are free performances.

Boom Chicago
Cabaret theatre, program usually in English

Heineken Music Hall
Located in A'dam South-East, close to the Arena Stadium, this theatre stages various kinds of popular music.

Nestheaters 'Frascati' and 'De Brakke Grond'
This website covers both Frascati and De Brakke Grond (Flemish cultural institute), located at De Nes, close to Dam Square.

Koninklijk Theater Carre / Royal Theatre Carre
Theatre at the river Amstel, not far from the City Hall.

Bimhuis
Main Dutch jazz club for jazz(-related) and improvised music.

Conservatorium of Amsterdam
the music academy of Amsterdam, sometimes students have interesting music performances here.

Amsterdam Marionette Theatre
European classical marionette theatre. 'Wooden actors', in their silk and velvet costumes, perform one-act opera's by Mozart and Offenbach.'

Bethaniënklooster
This is now a small concert hall, but used to be part of a monastery in the 16th century. The site is in Dutch only. Click on 'Agenda' for info about the concerts. There are also free lunch concerts.

Pepsi Stage
One of the larger concert/theatre hall in the south east of Amsterdam (Arena Stadium area)

Stadsschouwburg
One of the main theatres of Amsterdam.It brings plays, dance and is home to the Holland Festival in June and the Dance Festival in July.
